Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) is a metabolite of alcohol (ethanol). It can be detected in urine after alcohol consumption, even if ethanol is no longer measurable. EtG is detectable in urine for up to 80 hours after alcohol consumption. Ethyl sulfate (EtS) is another specific metabolite or biomarker of ethanol. The combined testing of EtG and EtS provides greater sensitivity and accuracy in determining recent alcohol ingestion than the testing of either biomarker alone.
EtG/EtS screening and confirmation is performed by the most sensitive and specific equipment and technology available, LC/MS/MS (liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry). The configurations offered by On-site Screening are listed below along with the confirmation cut-off levels for EtG/EtS testing.
